Empowering Koraga, Enriching Communities

Koraga Tribe is a backward community which the government has given special provisions for their upliftment.
With the aim to develop Koraga people, some of the members of this tribe formed an SHG along with other villagers, so that, the community members can help each other to increase their life conditions.

DISHA supports, helps and trains Koraga tribe to obtain government sponsored schemes that might exist to develop the rural area in Mangalore Taluk, so that they can live and enjoy equal status as other villagers. This facilities and schemes are provided by the state government, which is represented by the respective panchayat. In this matter, we inform and follow koraga tribe to approach the responsible entity, so that they can apply.

This measures aims to:
1. Increase the employment opportunities and capacitate the poor and marginalized groups by up gradation of their knowledge and skills for sustainable livelihoods.
2. Improve the socio economic status of the poor and landless through appropriate skill development and income generation program.

In this way, we aspire to increase the self reliance and social equity in sharing the benefits of improved resource base and enterprises.

NETWORKING WITH SANGHAS/OKKOOTAS/NGOs Improvement of livelihood of the poor and marginalized is achieved through by joining hands with like minded people as well as with support of donors and well wishers. We are participating in various programs and activities of other sanghas, okkootas and NGOs.
